Dance with the Dead moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Dance with the Dead, is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 20:26, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Onel5969, thank you for taking the time to review the article at Dance with the Dead and for your feedback. However, moving to draftspace due to a suspected WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict appears rather puzzling, so I would appreciate if you could constructively elaborate your concerns. Even after re-visiting the pages you linked, I fail to identify any potential conflicts, and the independent sources I had cited, to the best of knowledge and understanding, fulfilled the verifiability criteria you direct to there-after.
- To clarify, I am in no way affiliated with the band in question, nor do I have any affiliations with the music industry whatsoever. I work in a completely unrelated field (scientist in STEM-fields), and I have never received monetary compensation for drafting or editing of this or any other Wikipedia article. I do listen to music and attend concerts, including by bands such as this, but this should hardly warrant a conflict of interest. To me, this would appear as a similar situation as somebody after having read a book by a particular author or having watched a movie by a certain director, then contributed to the Wikipedia article of the author or director in question.
- The only rousing suspicion I can think for conducting such action, is the fact that I uploaded to the article a photo I had personally taken from a live musical performance by the band on October 21st 2022 in Finland (my native country; note that they are from USA). As the sole copyright owner of the photograph in question, I felt this was an appropriate addition to the article and I could relinquish any copyright on the photo as CC0 and release it to Wikipedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:DWTD_Oct2022_Tavastia.jpg). I was not paid to take or spread the photo, it was taken with my personal mobile phone, and I had no special privilege to obtain it. I referenced an independent music magazine with a concert review to identify and verify the identities of the persons and event present in the photo ( https://web.archive.org/web/20230102030706/https://tuonelamagazine.com/gallery-21-10-2022-daniel-deluxe-dance-with-the-dead-tavastia-helsinki/ ).
- In contrast, when I have had a connection that I suspected may warrant a CoI, I have added this as an user flair on User:Syksyinen ; see for example Draft:DREAM Challenges which I then tagged for AfC as I felt this may have been necessary information regarding review for the article in question. Working in that particular field, being an expert on a topic without having any sort of CoI is very difficult and subject to interpretation.
- If it helps in any way, I can personally identify myself so that it can be verified that I am not connected to the topic or any of the used references either. I notice that this may be somewhat relevant to the User talk:Onel5969#Draftification by Liz. While there were no specific reasons given for this CoI-suspicion, I'd gladly address them as long as I knew where those issues or misunderstandings may lie. Kind regards, Syksyinen (talk) 10:53, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
- It definitely helps, and assuages any concerns I have regarding COI/UPE. It's a nice article, and I've moved it back into mainspace. Onel5969 TT me 11:17, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you - and I do appreciate the hard work put into maintaining Wikipedia! In what manner would you like me to contact you? I can use my academic email, if that helps. Apologies for not (yet) being accustomed to the methods in which to contact one another appropriately. Alternatively, I can publicly declare my identity on my User Page, if that's more appropriate, with relevant links to my career. Any examples on how to do this in a suitable manner would be greatly appreciated. Syksyinen (talk) 11:31, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
