Please do not change music genres without providing reliable sources. Any unsourced changes will almost certainly be reverted, so your efforts will be wasted. 10mmsocket (talk) 07:26, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Cream Corn from the Socket of Davis, you may be blocked from editing. Please stop adding music genres to articles without support from a reliable source. Carry on and you will be blocked. 10mmsocket (talk) 14:09, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- How did “vandalize” it. I’m just trying to added genres that are widely agreed in. Some pages didnt even have genres listed for the album and I was just trying to genres for the album. Also how am I supposed to a cite sources for a music genre? Taoster-152 (talk) 16:14, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- "Widely agreed" by whom? Wikipedia is not based on wide opinion, Wikipedia is not even based on the truth. Wikipedia is based on verifiable reliable sources - WP:V, WP:RS. As an aside this isn't forums, fansites, blogs, social media, etc. - WP:SPS, WP:UGC. If you have any doubts about a source then you can ask at WP:RSN and look up the results of past discussions at WP:RSNP. If you can provide sources to support your edit of the genres listed against an album or artist then fill your boots. Do be aware however that someone may revert your addition and ask you discuss it on the article's talk page. Right now though, your repeated addition of unsourced genres is disruptive and is very likely to get you blocked if you keep it up. Do ask if you need further help as we'd much rather you did the right thing. 10mmsocket (talk) 17:41, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- And to answer question "...how am I supposed to cite sources for a music genre". I would say take a look at other articles and see what sources they cite. Off the top of my head, a review by a recognised journalist Billboard.com would be a good example of a reputable source. BTW, if you see any genres that aren't properly cited and want to challenge them, then go ahead. You can place the {{cn}} template against the genre which will generated one of the little "citation needed" tags. You can also go to the article's talk page and say why you think existing genres and wrong. See WP:BOLD - if you're do something for the right reason, even if it turns out to be the wrong thing, then people will treat you with respect. BTW asking for help was the right thing to do - thank you for that! 10mmsocket (talk) 17:49, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
