Writing about The Rhythm and Blues Brothers[edit]

Hi Taylan Oliver. I saw your question at WP:RSN#Notability for The Rhythm and Blues Brothers and figured that you might not be aware of Wikipedia's policy regarding conflict of interest editing since you are new to the project. It might be a good idea for you to take a look at Wikipedia's plan and simple conflict of interest guide because, as the manager of the band, you'd be considered to have such a conflict of interest regarding them. Even though COI editors are not explicitly prohibited from creating or editing articles about subjects they are connected to, other editors might see your attempt to create an article about them as possibly being promotional. It can be very hard for even experienced editors to write about the subjects they are connected to in neutral manner and in accordance with Wikipedia's various policies and guidelines. This is why COI editing is strictly restricted and not something that is typically encouraged.

Instead of trying to write the article yourself, it might be a better idea for you to request that it be written by someone else at Wikipedia:Requested articles/music/Performers, bands and songwriters. An editor who has experience writing band articles might be able to want to write the article if they feel the band satisfies the notability requirements listed in WP:BAND. If, however, you do decide to try and write the article yourself, then I strongly suggest you read Wikipedia:Your first article and create it via Wikipedia:Articles for creation. The first attempt at writing an article can be quite hard for any editor (COI or not). Many editors who add their drafts drafts directly to the mainspace often find them being quickly deleted for one reason or another. Using AfC will allow experienced editors to review your draft and make suggestions on how to bring it up to Wikipedia standards. It's also a good way to learn how to edit on Wikipedia. Just a suggestion and good luck. - Marchjuly (talk) 05:00, 24 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
