Welcome![edit]

Hello, Tdlooker, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Draft:YMCA of South Australia 1850 to 1950, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:YMCA of South Australia 1850 to 1950 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from The YMCA in Australia” by J.T. Massey MBE. Published by F.W. Cheshire in 1950 and printed by Specialty Press 174 Little Collins Street – Melbourne. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The article YMCA in South Australia - Youth Camping has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A general article for YMCA in South Australia - should it pass our general notability guidelines - would be a better place for this, perhaps.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I would oppose the deletion of this page as it is the first of a number of pages regarding the YMCA in South Australia. I intend to put up more on the history of this organisation which has been in South Australia for 140 years. Future article will be referenced to historical records and texts but this is further information to be part of a larger body of knowledge. I have put up another page on the historical record of CEO's for the past 100 years.

Rawr. Tdlooker seems to be essentially a WP:NEWBIE. Is this PROD a bit WP:BITEY perhaps? Would this be better being "userfied" or "draftified", and the creator being given a bit of support if they will take it, rather than being deleted? Aoziwe (talk) 13:39, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Do you need some help ?[edit]

Hi Tdlooker.

You seem to be trying to do a lot of work, but unfortunately you do not seem to have taken the time to read through some of WP's guidelines for creating and editing articles.

I would like to encoruage you to keep working on WP articles, BUT you really do need to take some time to get familiar with the guidelines for working within WP. I refer you back to the Welcome message above. Please read through the links in that message.

While you are putting in some effort developing content, it is likely to be wasted if you do not follow basic rules within WP, because content that violates key WP conditions will get deleted or very heavily edited and-or redacted.

If you have any particular questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Hi, Thanks for the tips and I am trying to get it right. I have a significant amount of more information to put up and will make sure that is less of a work in progress when I put it up. I am on the board of the YMCA SA and being one of South Australia's oldest charities we get many requests for historical information and to have Wikipedia page will assist those looking at the history of the organisation in South Australia.

Regards

Tim

Hi, I think it appropriate now to remove the tag on the page as I have added and improved content and added citations. This page is important in the history of south Australia as the YMCA is an integral part of the States development over 180 years

tim I have added more information and citations so it should be much improved. i will continue to work on it

Tim

Please feel free to ask questions at any time. At the end of a response to a post as in this discussion here, remember to type four tilda characters ie four '~'. This will automatically enter your use name and time of posting. You can also indent your response by starting your post with one or more colons, ie one or more ':'. Each ':' is one level of indent.
