Aborted retirement

Welcome back. Glad to see you reconsidered. -- Meyer (talk) 07:07, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Friendly note regarding talk page messages

Hello. As a recent editor to User talk:92.21.186.219, I wanted to leave a friendly reminder that as per WP:USER, editors may remove messages at will from their own talk pages. While we may prefer that comments be archived instead, policy does not prohibit users -including anonymous editors like this one- from deleting messages from their own talk pages. The only kinds of talk page messages that cannot be removed (as per WP:BLANKING) are declined unblock requests (but only while blocks are still in effect), confirmed sockpuppet notices, or IP header templates (for unregistered editors). These exceptions only exist in order to keep a user from potentially gaming the system. Thanks, Kralizec! (talk) 19:00, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Soapy Smith

Just looks like a content dispute to me. NawlinWiki (talk) 02:18, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

I must know

Alright, you've picqued my interest. Which were the absurd names? Skomorokh 06:58, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Ok... well, how about Tony Blair (so absurd it's laughable), Ngo Dinh Nhu and Ngo Dinh Diem (those two still have me scratching my head); Pierre Trudeau and Václav Havel are borderline absurd, they may have at least read Mounier and/or Maritain. Otherwise, the list was, as usual, just overburdened with names of only tenuous relevance, with a few redlinks just for color. Once again, listitis, the bane of my existence. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 07:06, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

2legit2quit2 but not 2legit2escapeblock

Yes, he caught the attention of an admin and then threatened him, which is not really the wisest course of action. He gawn. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 21:41, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

He's returned (temporarily) as an IP. Both the IP [1] and the recently-blocked named user are socks of an already-blocked user named Nigh8 [2] Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 21:55, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Would you care to log the new ones to WP:ANI? I might already have a section there, unless it got archived. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 03:58, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Karl Hess

Jacobite, what's with this warning stuff on the Karl Hess article? I am that architect of that article; I have contributed most of the best parts of it. Please yield to my judgment. George415 (talk) 23:40, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Note

Note about this - It appears to be from Recollections of a Tour Made in Scotland, A. D. 1803. The copy and paste is bad, but the content shouldn't be. It just needs to be reworked and properly formatted. Ottava Rima (talk) 03:46, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, TheOldJacobite. You have new messages at Fabrictramp's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Fru23, KingsOfHearts, JcLiner, etc.

You may have noticed that Fru23 has kind of gone silent. He was found to be part of a sockfarm, and they were all banished to the wikipedia phantom zone. He made one pathetic attempt at a comeback under a new user ID, which was quickly dispatched also. Hopefully he's gotten the message by now, but we'll see. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 20:05, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

At least maybe he'll be a little less obvious the next time. But it's hard for a leopard to change his stripes. What's he going to edit, if not political articles? Oscar-winning films? Nursery rhymes? I added the name of the most recent sock just as a reminder, and to point out that the "Liner" he boarded was apparently the Lusitania, which got torpedoed quickly. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 20:19, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
And right on cue, here comes another one: [3] Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 20:24, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
You might have missed my latest smart-guy remark. If it's over the top, feel free to add a comment rebuking my chippiness. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 21:31, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Gangster

I can't say you're very far off the mark. The article is not very well written. For one thing, tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't see where the term "gangster" originated. Obviously it means a gang member, but the specific term "gangster" must have started or gained significant public awareness at some point, and it would be nice to know when. Much work is needed on the article. It's also worth noting that these guys tend to get glamorized, like the outlaws of the old west, but they're still parasites on society. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 21:52, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Free speech

I think here is probably the thing you are looking for. Here is a good supporting argument. Wikipedia is not a democracy and it's not a place for unlimited free speech. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 14:36, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Anytime. :) The parts on that page that mention that Wikipedia is not a blog or message board might be useful as well. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 14:51, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Well I blocked the user for 24 hours. Pretty obvious that they are just here to be a vandal. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 15:22, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I know how frustrating that is. I've been there many many times. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 15:43, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Rockabilly tag

I've spent a lot of time on this article. Please either tell me directly, or post on the Discussion page, which sections you think justify the tag. I will either remove those sections (some of the stuff could easily be removed) or find some other way to remove the tag. I would also appreciate any editing of nreferneced material you think would justify removal of the tag. Please respond soon. I am proud of my work here in wikipedia, and think that this article does not deserve a tag given all of the referneced material I've added to it over the last year or so. Thanks. Steve Pastor (talk) 23:58, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

New Wave revival

I have to say this user has a habit of making pages about things which consist of original research, like synthpop revival and List of New wave revival acts (which is one of the most random lists I have ever seen). I put a PROD tag on the former page, but it was removed by another user. Both should be deleted. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:44, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Reverts to The Lord of the Rings

Could you explain your recent reverts? I actually though that Sam1w made a good point.

Sandinista!

I wanted to give you a "heads-up". Currently, Sandinista! appears to be embroiled in an edit war. I'd like to remind that reverts are limited to three; and that we encourage talk page discussion rather than article reverts. Be advised that violations of the Three Revert Rule will henceforth result in a block. Most kindly, Lazulilasher (talk) 19:51, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

The user was reblocked for performing the same actions immediately after his block was released. At this point, I would advise to try not to engage in similar activity; try and keep the discussion on the talk page. Also, dispute resolution, specifically Third Opinion can help. If the situation cannot be resolved, I would recommend ANI so that other administrators and uninvolved users can take a look. Thanks for brining to my attention. Lazulilasher (talk) 00:57, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

eden ahbez

Yikes! Those can get so darn convoluted. I'd think the best bet would be to redirect everything to eden ahbez, which is the name he went by. Now the question is whether the software can handle that. I know for the longest time, you couldn't start an article name with a small letter. And actually I just tried a test here. I tried to make it go to eden ahbez but it automatically changed the redirect to Eden ahbez (I've since reverted my change). I'm wondering if the Help Desk might be helpful on something such as this. You'd think given how advanced the wiki software is that this wouldn't be a big deal. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 15:09, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Woohoo! Got it to work. I simply moved eden Ahbez to eden ahbez and it looks like it's working. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 15:21, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Actually, this explains the lowercase thing at least a little. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 02:37, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Glad to help out

Done. Merry/happy and all that! Ed Fitzgerald t / c 15:08, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
