I have a reliable source. The War Diary of the WNSR, stating the War Office photographer visited and took photos of the carrier platoon in training on 29/02/1940. https://www.wnsr.ca/war_diary/1940/02page 29
The IWM source for the date is wrong. The WNSR were either in Canada or at sea in December 1939, arriving in the Aldershot area on 1 Jan 1940, as mentioned in the paragraph immediately adjacent to the photograph. They also arrived without equipment.
I have read the guidelines, but all that seems to mean a very long description for a simple date change, from the impossible to the extremely likely. I have inserted a source. The Gruffalo (talk) 08:18, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
