Jefferson and Hemings family articles
[edit]Hello,
It's great to see another person interested in the Jefferson and Hemings family!
I just wanted to touch base because I am seeing a number of edits that are made without sources. Do you have sources for dates, etc. information.
You may want to look at WP:Reliable sources. And, I would be more than happy to help format citations for you if you have the sources.
I'll check an article or two and see if I can find reliable sources to support your change. If I cannot find one, I will revert your edits and comment on the talk page of the article for further conversation.–CaroleHenson (talk) 04:48, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Once I started diving in, I can see why you made the edits that you did. I just spot-checked three articles, but it would have helped a lot if you put something in the edit summary about why you made the change you did.
- It makes it much easier to understand what is going on. For instance, for Martha Jefferson Randolph it would be better just to change thirteen to twelve and leave the citation. Then in the edit summary state something like: She only had 12 births through 13 pregnancies. And for the removal of Andrew Jackson Donelson, I couldn't find any reference to him in the cited source -- for two articles.–CaroleHenson (talk) 05:12, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Yes, I have been working on the Hemings and Jefferson family!
I wanted to remove Andrew Jackson Donelson from being uncles of the Coolidge family, because they are not. Donelson married the widow of Meriwether Lewis Randolph, and I can see that brought some confusion for me.
Also, should I create a page for Jefferson's granddaughter Ellen Wayles Randolph Coolidge? She seemed to have played an important role in Jefferson's life. - ThomasJefferson321
- That could be an interesting article. I found this link - which also lists other sources. I'd be interested to see how that comes along.–CaroleHenson (talk) 16:56, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, I wanted to create a page for her for a while, I hope to start working as soon as we can. - ThomasJefferson321
- Sounds good!–CaroleHenson (talk) 04:21, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
Could you please make the page and I can edit it thank you. - ThomasJefferson321
Speedy deletion nomination of Joseph Coolidge
