"Slaves" and "enslaved people"

[edit]

I noticed that you changed a lot of slavery-related expressions in different articles. There are a lot of editors (including myself) who prefer "enslaved people" over "slaves", but there are others who prefer "slaves". WP is built on consensus, and changes like yours will often be reverted. I will surely revert all instances of "freedom seekers", because I think that expression is difficult to understand and difficult to define. I also prefer "legal owner" over "'legal' enslaver", because the expression emphasizes the fact that those laws very really barbaric - the same way Harriet Jacobs emphasizes the word "sold" in a sentence in her last chapter: "A human being was sold in New York" (or something similar). Finally, I'd like to ask you not to mark potentially controversial changes as "minor". Rsk6400 (talk) 09:09, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
