This is for all those who seem to think that because they are participants that they have a right to edit this talk. You know who you are. If you persist your edits will be removed. A participant who is seen to have a conflict of interest because the source happens to be a primary source does not necessarily mean that the source author is promoting or advertising the content of the primary source. When taken in context, the participant is trying to cite a particular source for the purpose of verifying the information added to the page, with disambiguation and to prevent the information from being taken for hoax content. When in the case of edits for the purpose of adding to a list or a particular instance pertaining to the topic, I believe that the occasional exception can be made. There is therefore NO conflict of interest, and therefore no reason to remove or abridge said information. In fact, this author has taken great pains to remove any data which in any way advertised or promoted the information. This exclusionary rule therefore, violates the spirit of the site's intent.Tmdragon1 (talk) 21:17, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Tmdragon1[reply]

[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Vampire literature, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Hi, you should most certainly not be adding links to information contained in books that you have written, whether in external links or as references. That is considered spamming and original research. If you think that something contained in one of your books would provide a worthy source of information then in order to avoid conflict of interest problems you should bring that up for discussion on the article talk page, declaring who you are and why you think it merits inclusion. If the consensus is in favor then an impartial editor can add it. For your books to be used as a reference they will have meet our guideline for what constitutes a reliable source. If you need any help please ask. Mfield (talk) 00:45, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
