Hi Todd, the reason for declining is not based on precedents, but each contribution is separately assessed. For Kiko Mizuhara I did a google search and only found a few dozen hits. For a currently famous person I expect to see a much bigger web footprint. It may of course be due to insular Japanese with little presence in the English language. If you consider her article worthwhile you can make it! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:22, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Graeme, thanks you input. I have found a wiki page in Japanese exists [ http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%B0%B4%E5%8E%9F%E5%B8%8C%E5%AD%90 ]. I will work on translateing this to english. Big in Japan or google requires more Kanji I suppose. Anyway, I imagine localizing a wiki-page will meet less scrutiny than trying to start from scratch or convince others a fashion model may have relavancy in an encyclopaedic world.

Also found this definition; Encyclopedia, noun: A reference work (often in several volumes) containing articles on various topics (often arranged in alphabetical order) dealing with the entire range of human knowledge or with some particular speciality.

So, I think regardless of how many hits a english(水原希子) google search reveals; articles on various topics dealing with the entire range of human knowledge or with some particular speciality, users can be served by a localized english version.

{{helpme}} I may need some assistance, are you willing to tutor me on wiki formating if I mess up?

Anyway, thanks again.

All the best!

Hi Todd, I can help you out with wikisyntax. My first suggestion to you is to sign your talk with the four tilde characters, ~~~~. The next suggestion is to add your talk to the bottom of the talk page, then I can find it easier. Let me know if you have something you want tme to look at. There may be automatic translators eg on google to convert that page for you. The Japanese page may have good references or lead to finding thousands of hits that would show notability. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:13, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok thanks mate!

[edit]

I appreciate your help. I will get to work on this localization. Keep an eye out here(watchlist or other?) and you can proof things and make suggestions, as they happen. Stand by a little though. In the mean time; what do you work on mainly? Anyway, again thanks. Hope to hear from you again soon. All the best!

Todd

Most of my work looks like it is counter vandalism! There are enough pages on my watchlist that I see various negative edits. I have a plan to work on regional geology, especially Australia, and possibly some other countries, such as Iberia, Nauru, and over time may include other countries. Also I have done some work on historical people from Friesland, and my local Canberra area.
With your documents on oil recovery and exploration, can you identify areas in wikipedia that are deficient? I have little knowlege in this area, most of which comes from reading a book written by Reg Sprigg and another on microbes that eat petroleum. But I can certainly help you with wikisyntax, liking in articles, redirects, categories, and projects.
For your signature block it does not seem to link back to your user or talk page. I just use the default one that does that! else you will need something like [[User talk:Tmdrehrb]] in it to get User talk:Tmdrehrb. My signature: Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:44, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
