Hi Tonywalton. I was just reviewing this one myself, and found that reliable sources exist to support much of the content. This in the Financial Post for example. Also I see that DGG had already restored the article with the explanation that sources can be added. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 00:05, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Umph. I missed them. I've undeleted the article - apologies. Tonywalton Talk 00:07, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
No worries. Can you get the talk page as well? Regards, Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 00:09, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Done. Tonywalton Talk

Nathan Hurner

Hi. I;m rarkenin. I just got a talk message from you, regarding Nathan Hurner but it was removed immediately. I just wanted to clarify that I did not create the page, but tweak the speedy deletion notice to be more specific than the one made by Special:NewChangesFeed. If I saved the page right after you deleted it, I apologize for the confusion. Rarkenin (talk) 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

No problem. Thanks for letting me know. Tonywalton Talk 00:24, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Cross the Line Films Page

I recently put up a page for Cross the Line Films that was promptly deleted. The source of the issue was that the information on the site was found on a linked in page of one of the associates. The information on the linked in page as been removed. How do I go about having the page put back up? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MichaelCtLF (talkcontribs) 00:48, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand the above, to be honest. Nope, I've read it a good three times now and it still makes no sense. "The information on the linked in page as been removed" is particularly hard to parse into English. However in short: the criteria to have a Wikipedia article are that it must meet the criteria listed here. It must be listed in reliable sources, the sources must be verifiable. Notability is a guideline rather than a set-in-stone policy though it is important. Tonywalton Talk 01:06, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

[1] What was the point of SALTing it... 5 times? ⁓ Hello71 00:54, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Not sure what your question is. Tonywalton Talk 01:07, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Hmmm. Having checked, something appears to have gone barmy. Blame the SQL server. Tonywalton Talk 23:15, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Brian Nelson (1948-2003) is not accurate; he was born in 1949 (see article); that's what I am trying to fix. Quis separabit? 23:44, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Trouble is that the fix may not be worth it, as far as deleting the "1948" redirect (let's call it that) stands. It may have side-effects that you didn't plan for on articles that link to it indirectly via the template. I've now edited the "Template:Ulster_Defence_Association" template so that plain "Brian Nelson" points to the "Brian Nelson (NI Loyalist)" article; anything newly created with the "UDA" template should be OK, however there's a lot of "what links here" to the "1948" article. Let's find out. I'll delete the "1948" article and see what happens to the articles listed on "what links here". Don't go away...

Tonywalton Talk 23:51, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

OK, that seems to have worked. Articles previously listed as "what links here" to the "1948" version now "link here" to the "NI loyalist" version. Fingers crossed that I've not annoyed a lot of rather heavy people with that deletion. Heavy people, please refer your comments to Quis separabit?. Tonywalton Talk 23:58, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
I don't understand exactly what the problem is about fixing something that is incorrect or who these "heavies" are, but I may have tangled with them myself. Anyway, thanks but why did you delete the talk page (Talk:Brian Nelson (Northern Irish loyalist)) for Brian Nelson (Northern Irish loyalist)? That page still exists. By the way, do you want me to create a redirect as Brian Nelson (1949-2003)? I don't think it's necessary, but... Quis separabit? 00:42, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Why did I delete Talk:Brian Nelson (Northern Irish loyalist)? Sheer cack-handedness on my part. Thanks for alerting me – I've undeleted it. As for heavy chaps you would not believe the level of absolute childish foolishness that goes on round here sometimes. Check out Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents for feuds that run for years about "you changed the spelling of my village to have an 'a' in it instead of an 'i'" or "our great hero was born six kilometres, not seven, from such and such town". Deleting something that may create a redlink might well be seen as disrespectful in some quarters. This is either to laugh or cry over. Tonywalton Talk 00:54, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
I am guessing you're British based on the vernacular. Julie Andrews was married to a chap named Tony Walton, a director, with whom she had two daughters. I am guessing as well you aren't the lucky guy. Quis separabit? 01:11, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Nope, not me. I do have a {{userpage otheruse|the film and stage designer, with whom I have no connection|Tony Walton}} on my userpage. I get the occasional email query as to whether I'm "that" Tony Walton (wish I had that degree of talent). Tonywalton Talk 01:16, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

India Statistics Vandal

Why would the original sockpuppet IP's block status be any determining factor why the latest active dynamic IP should be blocked? Please see Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of 121.246.65.103. See edit history of each IP. The original sockpuppet IP address is only used for grouping everything together. Each time this guy comes back with a new or old IP (to randomly change statistics, most commonly airport floor areas, runway lengths and other statistics), I give a 4im warning and if he continues, I report to AIV. Please understand the magnitude of IP vandalism in Wikipedia. HkCaGu (talk) 23:15, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

I'm afraid I didn't understand a word of that. If you have something to say, please say it again, clearly, with diffs, why you claim it's vandalism and references as to why he's wrong and you're right. Otherwise I'm afraid it's just one word against another. Tonywalton Talk 23:14, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm too busy to explain everything about how airport articles are constantly vandalized by IPs--if you won't look into the contribution history of just a few of those sockpuppet IPs. But I'd suggest that you do not remove entries at AIV when someone reports an IP. HkCaGu (talk) 01:36, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
And I'm afraid I'm too busy to read a load of apparent gibberish about alleged vandalism. Your word against his; you can't be bothered to explain why the contributions are invalid so as far as I'm concerned the correspondence is closed. Tonywalton Talk 22:50, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

The Futurist

I came online today to check the situation with the article I wrote, only to find it had been deleted by yourself. I can't say that I am very impressed with that, whilst I appreciate the point that you made about the information being copied from that blog, this ignores the fact that I actually co-wrote the blog including editing most of the history sections. I am also good friends with the owner of the blog, own all the books mentioned in the sources and have seen all the Liverpool Archives material I mentioned.

So when Excirial initially refused the submission, he mentioned something to the effect that the blog's owner could release copyright under creative commons. I can't be more specific than that because the deletion of the page appears to have deleted his specific remarks about that too. I accordingly contacted him on his talk page suggesting a few ways forward, all of which have been overridden by the deletion.

So now I will have to re-write the entire page including the formatting because I can't even amend what I've already done, because its no longer there. I only hope that when I have done this, if there is any other problems with the submission, I am given the time to address them before it is deleted out of hand!

Privatehudson (talk) 09:47, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Nope, you don't have to rewrite anything. I'll undelete it and place it in your userspace...
Done - it's at User:Privatehudson/The Futurist Cinema, Liverpool. For your future reference it's important to get in early if releasing text into the public domain; Wikipedia is sensitive about accusations, including legal action, of copyright infringement. This might be useful, by the way. Regards Tonywalton Talk 13:26, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
