Caledonian Sleeper[edit]

Thank you for your edits to Caledonian Sleeper but please learn to make text read more as prose and not as a series of (almost shock value) bullet points. Please also read Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners on how to include references and not insert plain url links into articles. Nthep (talk) 21:28, 29 September 2019 (UTC)--Trainspotterextraodinaire (talk) 22:16, 29 September 2019 (UTC) It is my first attempt. It looks much neater, thank you. I couldn't work out how to do the footnotes. Unfortunately, some of the edits have changed my intended meaning, and some concatenated statements aren't true. Also, I wonder why the timely mention of this evening's strike was removed? Trainspotterextraodinaire (talk) 22:16, 29 September 2019 (UTC) --Trainspotterextraodinaire (talk) 22:16, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If I changed the meaning then it is because I made the content fit with what the sources said, not what I wanted the sources to say. For example you were using the Morning Star to support an assertion that just wasn't in the linked article, that's not allowed. You can't infer things and ask readers to come to the same conclusions as you if the conclusion isn't directly attributable to the source.
I have little doubt that Serco are making a complete hash of this franchise but unless there are sources that specifically say that I can't put that statement into the article. Neither can I add loads of examples of how poor the service has become trying to make the inference that Serco are rubbish. It is Wikipedia policy that articles read neutrally. Ongoing strikes are WP:NOTNEWS unless it is part of wider commentary about the root issue.
Please read some of the links in my original post regarding core policies or this link WP:5P to see them all in one place. Nthep (talk) 09:00, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you - I take all your points. I am impressed by the rigour of the policies, - and slightly surprised, because I've seen pages which seem to have no attributions at all! - and so I was hoping I might have been on the right track with providing live link sources, even though I hadn't created footnotes. I also understand that my series of statements might have seemed disjointed or agenda-filled, which was not my intention. Trainspotterextraodinaire (talk) 13:47, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
