Reverts at Free France
[edit]In a series of edits at Free France, you appear to be arbitrarily reverting earlier edits there, without any justification or explanation. These edits appear to be unconstructive or have had a negative impact on the article, including: restoring an unwanted apostrophe in a plural, adding an incorrect and unneeded pipe argument in a wikilink that was correct before, and restoring an entire section that had been previously removed as non-neutral (including the original POV tag banner). None of these edits contain an edit summary to explain your intent, and none of them represent an improvement to the article. Accordingly, I have undone these edits, and restored the article to its previous state. If you believe I was mistaken, don't worry—your edits are not gone, they have been preserved in the history of the article. Wikipedia operates by consensus, and if you believe that your edits were an improvement to the article, then please go to the Talk page of the article, explain your reasoning, and attempt to sway other editors to your view; if they agree, then you may include your edits in the article again. Once again, welcome to Wikipedia, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my Talk page. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 19:50, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
Edit summaries
[edit]Hi, again. I mentioned edit summaries above, and I wanted to explain what it is, what the benefits are, and how to use it:
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! Mathglot (talk) 19:53, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
