Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ruby.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ruby.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:54, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There isn't much time, so if you can answer for this, please hurry!

[edit]

You uploaded an early version of Image:Chomper.jpg. However, as you've probably read above, the image needed a fair use rationale, but never had one, so it got deleted.

Since you had uploaded the image, another user said that they uploaded another version of the file. However, when looking at the file history, it only includes their version of the file. I don't know why it doesn't include a link to the image that was in the file when you uploaded it, but my best guess is that they didn't click the "upload a new version of this file" link at the bottom of the file page, and instead uploaded it as a separate file with an identical name. Therefore, your image got erased from the history.

If I remember correctly, when you uploaded the image in the first place, it was a reasonably large image, which had Chomper alone in it. He was smiling in the image, and appeared to be standing in front of a rocky wall at nighttime - or so I assume. Is this correct? If so, I must ask you: Do you still have the image on your personal hard drive? If you do, I must ask that you reupload it to that file. You don't even have to fill in a fair use rationale for it; I know the kind that would be suitable for the image, and will gladly do it myself.

There isn't much time to waste, though. After the file got deleted by User:Maxim, I asked him to restore it so I may fix it, and he agreed. I got him to restore the other image you had uploaded; Image:Ruby.jpg. It now has a fair use rationale, and is once again standing proudly in her article. Chomper's image, however, has been temporarily restored for about two or three days now, so only has about four or five days left before it gets deleted again, and I don't know if I could get User:Maxim to restore it a second time! If you get this message the day I've delivered it, or one or two days after, and if you happen to still have the image on your own hard drive, then please, please, please reupload it. It was a lovely image, and I felt after it was deleted that the article could never be the same again without it. Now it has a chance to thrive again, and this time forever! Please hurry! There's not another moment to waste! Wilhelmina Will (talk) 00:54, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
