About deletion

[edit]

I thank you for your recommendations about this page, and for considering it before deletion first. This page might certainly use some extra info about the subject which can be compile in time and enriched by other users. I believe by sharing this page, that this cause deserves a chance to be known on Wiki because it is know in many places, has quality Resources on it, press releases to support its authenticity, photos to prove the events, has videos and TV shows participation, it also has earned awards in some countries and they have been working since 2009 non stop. Besides that, the fact is violence eradication needs all the support we all could give, I included this article on Wiki because I believe people need to know there are people doing something relevant to join the worldwide efforts to eradicate it. • Well... the problem is that we have to have coverage in reliable sources such as newspapers. It can't be a primary source such as press releases, as those are released by the subject in question and cannot show notability as far as Wikipedia goes. Most of the time people aren't questioning whether something exists, as many subjects obviously exist. It usually comes down to whether or not it's notable and has been mentioned and covered in the news. Stuff such as routine notification of events, blogs, and brief mentions in sources can't really show notability. As far as it being useful in spreading information, that's not entirely the purpose of Wikipedia. We're here to inform, but it has to be about things that pass our notability guidelines. • Thanks a lotTokyogirl79, there is where my mistake must be, I've described the articles as press releases while they are actual main newspapers publications pages on the online versions. Ca I upload the news cuts scanned to the photos gallery?Tubeth2000 (talk) 05:17, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hmm... to add to the article? I'd recommend against it since there are already a large amount of photos being used. If they're online already via the news websites then we can just link to them. Otherwise you might be able to upload them to the official website for the organization and we can link to them there. I'll warn you, some are somewhat leery about photos on primary websites, but they are usable as long as it's verifiable that they're from news sources Wikipedia considers reliable. • Also, is the official name "Festival Internacional de Poesía Grito de mujer"? I saw that on one of the websites but wanted to verify it. It translates like it would be, but my Spanish is incredibly weak and I end up having to use Google Translate in the majority of circumstances. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:25, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes Tokyogirl79 it is "Festival Internacional de Poesía Grito de mujer" but it is transalated into different languages according to participating country, that's why I tried to translate articles on Wiki. How do you do that thing with the references link that mention dates and new titles? I don't know how, I just want to do things right :) Tubeth2000 (talk) 05:27, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I looked at some of the pages that you had on the article and some of them are unusable to show notability. For example, this link is just a notification of an event and this one is a press release. The problem with these is that the press release is still a primary source regardless of where it's posted while the notification is considered to be trivial. Sometimes notifications of events are extended into full length articles written by the paper in question, but if they're as brief as that one is we can't really use it. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:40, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • OK I'm fixing that! I didn't know. Thanks. Tubeth2000 (talk) 05:43, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • No problem- I did some editing too. I added some info in general. I think I might recommend that we merge the two pages together for the event and for the organization. This is sort of a common thing, as sometimes an organization and one of its events won't have enough individual notability to have an article, but can pass notability guidelines if we pair them together. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:52, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • OK it looks much better, thanks a lot for your valuable help! and yes, I believe the merge would be a good idea, but I don't know how to to that, he he, I feel odd and worn out :) Tubeth2000 (talk) 05:56, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is there anything else my article needs to be removed from deletion line? I believe I've added all information requested and more. Thanks. Tubeth2000 (talk) 05:25, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Colin Haskins, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. AleatoryPonderings (???)
