{{adminhelp}} You know how you can change your username to an account what isnt being used...well what about for a blocked or banned user. like user Dr.Mukesh111 for example because wouldnt a account change mean a new password and stuff.
thanks
Tyflas.
- A request to change username would not be accepted from a banned user, or from a blocked user while the block was in force; and simply setting up a new account would be WP:Block evasion and the new account would be blocked if detected. JohnCD (talk) 20:23, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Do you mean changing your username to take over one from a banned user? If so, why do you ask? Are you thinking of doing so, and if so why? I am not sure if there is any policy on this, but I for one would be very doubtful about it. Apart from anything else, the user who had taken on the name would be likely to be tarred with the brush of the old user, and be continually under suspicion. Why would any legitimate user wish to do this? Finally, I see that this request for help is the first edit from this account, yet you have considerable knowledge of Wikipedia, including the process of usurping a user name, asking for help from an administrator on your talk page (and, if it comes to that, even knowing of the existence of admins), both blocks and bans, and you know of at least one particular user who has been banned for quite a while. Have you edited Wikipedia before, and if so through what account? JamesBWatson (talk) 20:30, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yes that is what I mean. Some good names are taken like thesevenseas because I wanted to put "arghh, set sail for the seven seas" on my page. I believe that it would be logged somewhere and you could point someone to it. I lurk I have read policies and watched processes of other people doing things. I made this account because I believe most admins see IPs as vandels. I dont want to vandlise. Tyflas.

- (edit conflict) I'm afraid you have no chance, because the guidance at WP:USURP includes:
The account you want to usurp should have no edits or significant log entries to qualify for usurpation... Please do not request usurpation if your user account is less than several months old, or barely used. In order to ensure that usurped usernames be put to good use, we prefer only to grant requests from reasonably well-established users.
- In this case, user Thesevenseas (talk · contribs) has substantial edits, and your account is only a day old. JohnCD (talk) 22:22, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
