August 2009[edit]

{{unblock|Dear Wikipedia Administrators, Sincere apologies for unwittingly contravening Wikipedia policy on usernames. I am new to Wikipedia, and in setting up my account found the wealth of instructive information a little confusing. In eagerness to begin contributing to Wikipedia I obviously did not read all the various pages on getting started as I should have done, and hence missed some of the information on username policy. As it was, I chose a username similar to the title of the first article I wished to create primarily for ease of remembering it! However, having read the guidelines carefully, I now clearly understand the reasons for having such a strict policy. Please rest assured that I have absolutely no intention of violating or vandalising Wikipedia - and wish only to learn how to take in active part in helping to improve Wikipedia by adding some informative and useful content to it. Neither do I have any intention of using the site to blatantly promote my company. Rather, as an employee in the Library Services of the London School of Economics, I wish only to use my in-depth knowledge of the library profession in general, and of Library services in the UK to a)create informative and useful new articles on the history and activities of library-related services/groups in Britain, with solid use of references and links to external information as appropriate, and in accordance with all Wikipedia good-practice guidelines; and b)edit and improve content on already existing pages related to my area of expertise. Once I have a bit more experience with Wikipedia, I hope to be a regular contributor on many other topics that I have a personal interest in. In view of my violation of the guidelines on usernames, I would like you to change my username to "velflse". As outlined above, my violation was entirely inadvertent; please also consider the fact that I received no prior warning. Many thanks.}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Okay, you can go ahead and request your username change at WP:CHU, or even simply create that new username (since there is basically no history here). Feel free to let someone know if you need further assistance - you can use the {{helpme}} template. I've put some helpful links at the top of this page to get you started.
