Request reason:

I have never edited an article in wikipedia. The company I work for changed its name and I want to update the wikipedia article that uses the old name to the name, that's all. Victor.jacon (talk) 06:30, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I see no block on this account directly. If you are editing from work, they may have a VPN or proxy in operation as a security measure. If you cannot turn it off and clear your browser cache, you will have to make edits from a different physical location. We can tell you for certain if you provide your IP address and the specific message that you see when you attempt to make an edit. If you don't want to provide your IP publicly, you may use WP:UTRS to provide it privately. If you do gain access, you will need to declare as a paid editor, see WP:PAID, and read about how to make edit requests. 331dot (talk) 09:22, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

About your COI

[edit]

I see that you've declared your COI here by disclosing that your employer is paying you to edit Wikipedia, but I'm going to give you some advice:

  • You must disclose who is paying you to edit, and if possible, the employer's client.
  • Avoid editing articles about yourself, your employer or any affected articles that you might have a COI, but you can propose changes on the talk pages of said "affected articles".
  • You should put new articles through the Articles for Creation (AfC) process instead of creating them directly, and avoid reviewing affected articles at AfC; let someone else do it.
  • You should respect other editors by keeping discussions concise.

I hope that helps. Anyway, happy editing! – 64andtim (talk) 06:05, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do I need to add my pastor personal name instead of the business name? just to make sure I got it right.
Also, COI means conflict of interest right? The article I am editing is just updating the church name, which is outdated, and adding a few more relevant information about the church and its events, there's no polemics nor anything else that might be a COI
thank you for taking your time to help me out
cheers Victor.jacon (talk) 06:13, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
For the employer, you should probably add the business name. COI means conflict of interest, and instead of editing the article yourself, you should propose your changes on the talk page of the affected article, making sure the new proposed changes has reliable sources that support the material you wish for someone to add. Thanks. – 64andtim (talk) 06:20, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks man, I got an article link from a local news source and added as a reference for changing the name of the church, if in the future any polemics or weird things happen to the church page, i will add a proposed change on the talk page, thank you for your help Victor.jacon (talk) 06:27, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
