Information icon Hello, I'm Meters. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Lafayette High School (New York City), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Meters (talk) 08:18, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your addition of an unsourced date of birth to Brooke Smith (actress). In addition to Wikipedia's basic principle of citing sources (Wikipedia:Citing sources), a special need for citations applies with regard to elements of a biography of a living person (WP:BLPPRIVACY).

Your edit summary included "listed in various places like 1mb". With regard to that, let me point out that an edit summary is not a citation. The source of the date needs to be indicated by a citation in the text of the article. Also, if by "1mb" you meant IMDb, that is not a reliable source. Please see WP:IMDB. You might also look at WP:USERGENERATED, which names similarly unreliable sources.

What is important about the date of birth (as with other facts) is the reliability of the source(s) where it is found. Feel free to add a date of birth when it is accompanied by a citation to a reliable, published, non-primary source. Eddie Blick (talk) 02:36, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
