Adding images in Biographies
[edit]Hi! I noticed that you've added some good images you've produced to Wikipedia biographies. Images can increase the impact and information content of an article. I like your images, and I know that producing a good image is hard work. However, one image from an event is a good thing; placing two or more images from the same event, that do not add information, is not, even if graphic balance is improved. I suggest that you check the articles to which you have added your images and compare those articles to other biographies. That will give you a guide. I have removed several images you have added; if you think I have made a mistake, you might want to ask other editors with more experience than I have. Or raise the question on the talk pages of the articles. Keep in mind that I am not the only editor who has removed 'excess' images.
I am sure there is some essay or another in Wikipedia about the use of images. I don't know the name, but I will look for the subject and place the information on this, your talk page. I do know of one experienced editor that seems to do a lot of image editing; I will ask that editor to check.
If you wish to reply to this message, please type your message under my message on your talk page; I am watching it and will reply under your reply. It is customary to keep conversations all at the same location, in the talk page where the thread began. - Neonorange (talk) 21:35, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- Here is the part of the Wikipedia Manual of Style that deals with the use of images. Section 4.1, Pertinence and encyclopedic nature is the section most directly related to my reversion. - Neonorange (talk) 04:23, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
