Amit Joharapurkar[edit]

Amit Arvind Joharapurkar (born 1975) is a pharmacologist working at Zydus Research Centre, the research wing of Cadila Healthcare Limited, Ahmedabad [1]. He is known for his work in small molecule drug discovery, which includes the development of prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor Desidustat. He has contributed to the discovery and development of new chemical entities at Zydus Cadila and has been actively involved in the development of seven new investigational drugs. He is the recipient of 2018 Central Drug Research Institute Award for Excellence in Drug Research [2]. The Indian Society of Chemists and Biologists (ISCB) awarded him ISCB award of appreciation for Industrial scientist in 2019 for his contribution to drug discovery and development in India [3]. Amit Joharapurkar has translated the autobiography of Father Valles, Atmakathana Tukda in Gujarati into Marathi as Atmakathecha Ansh, in 2020 [4]. He has also authored a book "Stories of Life" [5]
