Hello, I'm Jim1138. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added to the page Mathematical puzzle because it seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thanks. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Mathematical puzzle with this edit. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links may include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 21:37, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Mathematical puzzle. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Stop icon This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:50, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for adding spam links. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia and potentially penalized by search engines. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:52, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Balance Quest

[edit]

Adding an external link to an article usually requires that it support the article. As Balance Quest does not add any resources to Mathematical puzzle, it is rather problematic. One could imagine if everybody added their favorite puzzle website...

You could add a Wikipedia:Edit requests. Use {{request edit}} see template:request edit/doc. For examples, look "what links here", click on a link and scroll down until you see the orange box. Make sure to add what you want linked, and a good description of why it should be linked. WP:ELNO points 1, 4, 5, 11, and 13 will likely be a concern. Also WP:LINKSPAM.

If you can create a Balance Quest Wikipedia article, you could add a Balance Quest link to Mathematical puzzle and an external link to the website would be in order. The wp:notability (read thoroughly) hurdle can be difficult. I would suggest creating the article in your sandbox: User:Wmcmahan/Balance Quest for instance or on Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Perhaps starting it in your sandbox then moving it to AFC once you are satisfied. The article will need to be verifiable, which means that it will need to cite reliable sources. This means that it has to be accessible in a second source, not original research which would be your own knowledge. If the site has been cited on reliable news sites (not blogs or personal media sites), add them. I would review the puzzle links on Mathematical puzzles page to see what has been characterized as notable. Hope this helps! Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 00:08, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
