Somaliland[edit]

A country is not required to place an embassy in a country before a consulate.

For your information. The ethiopian embassy is the ethiopian representation to Somalia.

The ethiopian consulate is the ethiopian representation to Somaliland.

Hello. A consulate is by definition subordinate to an embassy, the latter of which is a country's main representation in a foreign country. Ethiopia does not recognize Somaliland's self-declared independence. It recognizes the territory as an autonomous region of Somalia, as does the rest of the world [1]. As such, Ethiopia maintains consulates in both Somaliland and Puntland (c.f. [2], [3]). Ethiopia's actual embassy, however, is in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia (see here). The link clearly indicates that the mission in Somaliland is a trade office, not an embassy. Again, Ethiopia's actual embassy is in Mogadishu (c.f. [4]).
