Accented characters in Windows XP

Thanks very much for your response to my Help Desk query[1]. That is much appreciated. I figured there was some relatively easy generalized way to type the accents under Windows. Aine63, I responded to your reply on Academic seduction. My apologies for having offended you; it was certainly not my aim to do so. When I said "pride and joy" I was merely saying that an article that one has written is often something of which its author can be proud. Onto the substance: I don't believe looking at some of your articles and making suggestions based on wikipedia guidelines is really out of order. You're more than welcome to do the same with me. Furthermore, my question (to which you have not yet replied) as to whether you are "displacedhuman" on Amazon.com is germane. Macrons

I saw that you added macrons to ex cathedra and sola scriptura. I deleted these because they are generally used only for teaching Latin, not in general publication. See for instance this page from the Schaff-Herzog encyclopedia, which does not apply macrons to "ex opere operato," which is also in the ablative. --Flex 17:56, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Tennessee Marriage Protection Amendment

I have corrected your addition to the Tennessee Marriage Protection Amendment article. The Rasmussen poll says nothing about whether or not Tennesseans support the amendment. The poll states that 80% of Tennesseans beleive marriage should be limited to a man and a woman (which it already is in Tennessee). That doesn't necessarily mean they support amending the constitution to say that. Please be careful about stating poll results accurately, especially as elections approach. Thanks! "Licensee" accent marks

I just thought I'd tell you... I don't know how it's spelled in French, but in English, the word "licensee" is almost never written with an accent mark (even by people who normally write accent marks). For example, www.m-w.com doesn't even list a spelling with an accent mark, even though this dictionary does often list uncommon variants (like "rôle" for "role"). Thanks for uploading Image:Ling cohan.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you. I'm not really sure that I can do much to help here; I didn't write the article and a great bukl of my knowledge on the subject comes from the article itself. I've never read a book on the subject, etc. All I really did was translate it into French. Best of luck! Terry Pratchett Article

You put the unsourced tag on the article, and while I'm sure if I read through it I could find something that might be unsourced, could you instead put the {{fact}} or {{verify source}} on the parts of the article that grabbed your attention? Bo-Lingua 01:14, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

I've gone through the article and tagged unsourced statements. I'm not questioning the accuracy of these statements, it's just we need a specific reference after each of them, so that they're verifiable. A big list of links at the bottom isn't enough. Now, that's not to say that this is a bad article -- it's just that it's not yet properly sourced, and this needs to be indicated. By the way, the reason I didn't put lots of fact tags in in the first place is that essentially nothing was sourced (2 bbc links, I think).
