Waterford High School (WHS) is a public high school in Waterford, Washington County, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Wolf Creek Local School District. Their mascot is the Wildcat, and their official school colors are kelly green and white.

Athletics

The Wildcats belong to the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and the Tri-Valley Conference, a 16-member athletic conference located in southeastern Ohio.[1] The conference is divided into two divisions based on school size. The Ohio Division features the larger schools and the Hocking Division features the smaller schools, including Waterford.

Athletic History

Waterford is known to be a basketball school, especially in girl's basketball.[citation needed] However, that is not their only strong sport. They also have success in football, volleyball, golf, wrestling, baseball, and softball.[citation needed] They have won consecutive TVC Hocking titles in girl's basketball from 2005 to 2013, before taking a off year in 2014 to eventual Division IV state champion Reedsville Eastern. They won again in 2015, finishing the regular season 21–1, the first time in school history that any basketball team on any side has even accomplished that feat. During their run to the state tournament, they set a school record for most wins overall in a season, finishing 27–2 after bowing to Fort Loramie 55–48. In 2016, they repeated their success from last year.[citation needed]

Their rival is the Beverly Fort Frye Cadets.[citation needed] They play each other every year in a showdown known as "The Battle of the Muskingum River."[citation needed]
