Wesley "Wes" Goodwin (born December 28, 1984) is an American football coach who is currently the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Clemson University. He previously served as an assistant coach for the Arizona Cardinals and at Mississippi State University.

Goodwin has served as an assistant coach at Clemson University since 2018, having served as a senior defensive assistant from 2018 to 2021.

Early life and education

Goodwin attended Mississippi State University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 2007 and his master’s degree in 2009.

Coaching career

Mississippi State

From 2005 to 2008, Goodwin served as a student assistant to the Mississippi State University's football team.

Clemson

In 2009, Goodwin joined Clemson University as a graduate assistant under head coach Dabo Swinney.

In 2012, Goodwin was promoted to defensive analyst.

Arizona Cardinals

In 2015, Goodwin was hired by the Arizona Cardinals as the assistant to the head coach. Goodwin served under head coach Bruce Arians.[1]

Clemson (second stint)

In 2018, Goodwin returned to Clemson University as a senior defensive assistant.

On December 14, 2021, Goodwin was promoted to defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Clemson, replacing Brent Venables after his departure to become the head coach at the University of Oklahoma.[2][3]
