    • Done Mikhail Gorbachev ruled the Soviet Union through the office of General Secretary until 1990 when the Communist Party lost it's monopoly of power over the political system — you forgot a comma after "until 1990"; sentence beginning with a conjunction means it is a compound sentence and should not be merged with the matrix sentence without adding a comma between them.
    • Done The office of President of the Soviet Union was established so that Gorbachev still retained his role as leader of the Soviet Union.[10] — without comma it is confusing what you want to tell us. Without the comma, the sentence has two meanings: Either it was established, so... or it was established, so that...

  • Done Excess "the" needs removal in "were obliged by protocol to rule the country the in the same way as Brezhnev had."
  • Done Konstantin Chemenko: Hyphen in "72-years old" should be removed as well.

  • Done Would move ref [7] to end of sentence.
  • Done "August 1991 Coup" this is not its official title so uncapitalise Coup.
  • Done "more-or-less like a secretary, a somewhat " little bit unencyclopedic for my taste.
  • Done No real need to relink Brezhnev in the table as it's not sortable.
  • Done Category says "1922 foundation.." but the list says 1917 was the first time someone occupied the post, albeit under a different title.
