The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the illustration workshop. Anyone can make a request for an illustration to be improved or created for a Wikipedia article. Clicking the "New Request" button will bring you to a standard template for submitting requests, as well as general advice that should be followed.

    Advice to requesters

    All requests:

    • Please make sure your request is "legitimate" by copyright. If the image(s) are in the public domain or freely licensed, you are fine. If the image(s) are "Fair use", there are only certain things we can do with them without falling afoul of Wikipedia's fair-use policies.
      • If you are requesting assistance with a copyright or fair-use image, don't display it on this page; place {{GLNF|Example.png|caption|align=left}} to create a link to it. Do not add the File: extension. Our fair-use policy does not allow displaying fair-use images out of their articles on ANY account.
    • Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
    • If a request is done to your satisfaction, please mark it with {{resolved}}.

    SVG requests:

    • Make sure your request can actually BE vectorized. Note that vector drawings are not suitable for certain applications. We generally use SVG format for icons, logos, drawings, maps, flags, and such. Certain things, photographs especially, are totally impossible to vectorize.
    • Per our non-free content policy, vectorization of copyrighted images is not permitted. If a vectorized non-free image is desired, seek out such an image from the copyright holder.

Antigua and Barbuda National Cadet Corps

    [edit]
    Article(s)
Antigua and Barbuda Cadet Corps, flag of Antigua and Barbuda
    Request
I request the Antigua and Barbuda National Cadet Corps emblem and flag. The emblem used until 2024 is the previous national coat of arms stripped of color, which is now vectorized, with the letters "ABNCC" and written in a circle "Antigua and Barbuda National Cadet Corps" and "excellence through discipline". You can see it in this document. The new emblem and flag can be seen at the beginning of this Facebook video. In addition to the emblem, the flag contains a wreath identical to the UN symbol, a ribbon with the „ABNCC” and a small inscription "Est. December 1945". The shield has the same shape and the same inscriptions, but instead of a landscape there are 5 silhouettes. None of these symbols are very visible, and they may not be in the public domain, so I'm leaving the most similar free images already uploaded to commons. I can't decipher two symbols, a circle in the middle and a rectangle with an oval, but I hope it won't be a problem. Swiãtopôłk (talk) 16:07, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Flags and logos of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies 1

    [edit]
    Article(s)
Armenian Red Cross Society, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Dominica Red Cross Society
    Request
Hi. My request today is for someone to vectorize all the flags and logos depicted here. All of these flags logos are of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. These are the Armenian Red Cross Society, the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and the Dominica Red Cross Society. All of these are shown on the "Flags of the World" website and are found in the following links.
    1. Armenian Red Cross Society [1]
    2. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society [2]
    3. Dominica Red Cross Society [3]

This request's already big enough as it is so I won't spent long explaining though the empty files help with what flags and logos need to be done and the links show what they look like. I'm also happy to provide further explanation if needed. I'd be very grateful to whoever does my request. Thanks for reading!--78.152.240.245 (talk) 19:56, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

These are simple enough that you can just plug them into vectorizer.io to get the SVG forms. (There's also probably already some existing SVGs of these.) – Closed Limelike Curves (talk) 20:06, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Dutch flags

    [edit]
    Article(s)
    Bavel, Galder, Strijbeek, Ulvenhout
    Request
Hi. Here are four flags that each belong to a village in Alphen-Chaam, North Brabant, the Netherlands. These villages are Bavel, Galder, Strijbeek and Ulvenhout. Apart from being in the same municipality, they also share another similarity, their flags are nearly identical to each-other and this isn't a coincidence as they're all near. The four flags contain the exact same pattern of four parts bisected in a Nordic Cross manner though without an actual cross. On the top line, a white square on the left and a green rectangle on the right. On the bottom line, a red square on the left and a red white rectangle on the right. The only difference is all four also add a symbol from their coat of arms and place it on the white square at the top. My request today is for someone to kindly please vectorize these flags and I add them here all together due their nearly identical design. Thanks in advance!--109.76.249.135 (talk) 21:00, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Flag and coat of arms of Swansea University

Swansea University, Armorial of British universities
    Request
Hi! I was wondering if someone can kindly please revectorize Swansea University's flag as it actually isn't a vector file at present. I'd also like if that same person copied that file to Commons and used it as a base for Swansea University's coat of arms (which has the same design as the flag but on a shield). Thanks in advance!--109.76.249.135 (talk) 19:48, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The official flag and shield differ from the current version. Not sure if this is intended by the author or if there had been updates in between. ~~ J. Dann 10:10, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok then. Thanks for the great work, it's excellent! There's just two things left to do. The first is copying File:Flag of Swansea University.svg from enwiki to Wikimedia Commons, I mentioned this in the first message but this wasn't done for some reason. The second is vectorizing the full coat of arms of Swansea University using the SVG coat of arms as a base. With the slightly different design between the different versions of the flag and coat of arms, maybe go ask @User:Vexald, the user who uploaded the coat of arms. Thank you very much for reading!--109.76.249.135 (talk) 19:48, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've been planning to get a vectorized version of the coat of arms loaded, so I'll do it soon (it needs some tidying up first). The university now flies a blue flag with its logo in white. Although the logo includes a stylized monochrome version of the shield, the formal coat of arms and shield remains what it always was, as granted by the College of Arms. Vexald (talk) 21:34, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Thanks for the reply Vexald!--109.76.249.135 (talk) 21:55, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Louisiana Air Guard emblem

    Louisiana Air National Guard
    Request

This Louisiana Air Guard emblem needs a couple small adjustments. First, the words have an irregular size and slightly warped appearance, and they appear to get smaller and larger as one reads across. Secondly, the fleur-de-lis emblem is tilted slightly to the left. Indefatigable2 talk 16:31, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Request
Please vectorize this banner, there is a photo zooming in on the inscriptions but it looks like a faded print and there is a drawing showing probably the original colors. Both images were created at the Somerset Military Museum, which owns the flag but does not display it [4]. The flag has fringes, I've added another file to help with this element, but I don't expect any specific way to represent them. Swiãtopôłk (talk) 17:07, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request: Logo for a new series of articles on social choice and mechanism design

    [edit]

Requesting help with a new logo (?) for a sidebar of articles on social choice and mechanism design. I've created the following examples using an AI image tool, but I don't know enough about graphic design to fix this:

All of these designs look solid in general, but they have lots of mistakes in the details, which I've labeled. There's also minor mistakes you can find in all of them, like random unnecessary lines or the checkmark being crooked. – Closed Limelike Curves (talk) 04:09, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

These are all godawful and you're asking an actual artist to redo an AI image, which is *hugely* insulting to actual artists, whose work these models steal and seek to replace. Consider using an existing image to illustrate your articles. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk)
