Wikipedia:Meetup/DC Wikimania planning
This page is for planning meetings related to Wikimania 2012. These will not be as exciting as the traditional DC meetup, and far more frequent, though planning meetings may be planned in conjunction with a regular meetup. The nature of these meetings will be mostly business.
Rather than have a page for each planning meeting, this page will be reused as subsequent meetings are planned. This is so people will only have to keep one page on their watchlist in order to get updates on Wikimania planning meetings.
For these meetings we have some rules to make sure that meetings are productive and so we make progress.
- Meetings do not necessarily need to be in person; they can also be on IRC or Skype, but they should as a general rule be announced in advance.
- Meetings should be announced on this page, the Wikimania wiki, and on the Wikimania 2012 Planning discussion list.
- For something to be discussed, an email should be sent to the Wikimania planning list.
- The Wikimania Committee, which was established at the May 7 meeting of the Wiki Society of Washington, DC, exists as the official, corporate face of Wikimania 2012. The committee will handle the conference budget and submit reports to the Board of Directors. The Committee also has the authority to make official decisions regarding the conference, but for the most part, Wikimania won't be "ran by committee."
