XCF convertion[edit]

I've been directed here by someone from the Teahouse. I have been trying to convert a XCF file with transparency into a JPG one and I seem to always get results that do not contain the transparency in them and only have a white background in front of the image. Is there anything wrong am I doing? Should I be using a different file type to convert the XCF file into? Rugoconites Tenuirugosus (talk) 18:36, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Depending upon what software you are using, support may not be perfect. See the table in XCF (file format) for hints. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 19:01, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
JPG as a standard does not support transparency.--Phil Holmes (talk) 08:33, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
An alternative filetype may be PNG. It does support transparency and can be displayed by all major webbrowsers. Using lossless compression, it gives better quality on schematic pictures, but worse file size on photographic pictures. PiusImpavidus (talk) 09:25, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the alternative @PiusImpavidus. Rugoconites Tenuirugosus (talk) 19:32, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
