CD and DVD releases[edit]

It's understood America: A Tribute to Heroes, The Concert for New York City, Tsunami Relief Austin to Asia, and, From the Big Apple to the Big Easy have been released on DVD. The first three concerts also have music CD releases, but the last one doesn't. Why not? Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope, A Concert for Hurricane Relief, and Shelter From the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast haven't been released on DVD and CD. Why's that?72.229.130.76 01:57, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bassoon Part in 'Carmina Burana'- Carl Orff[edit]

I have recently been asked to play the bassoon part to Carmina Burana in an orchestra. It is one of those 'come along and sing' days, and they need volunteers to fill seats in the orchestra, i am about grade 6 on the bassoon, i am slightly apprehensive about the whole thing, could someone tell me about the part, is it particularly hard? It will be sent to me sooner the time, but i would like to know beforehand about it, thanks in advance, RobertsZ 20:06, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am not certain if the Entertainment Reference Desk is read by very many bassoonists; you might get better answers if you ask one of the users in Category:Wikipedian bassoonists directly. User:Mindspillage, for example, who plays the bassoon at a professional level. Skarioffszky 20:56, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Which bassoon part? I think there are 2 plus contra. No, wait, maybe no contra. I can't remember. In any case, no, it's really easy. You'll be fine.

CB is mostly made up of very simple patterns strung together to make sections which are repeated a few times (3 seems to be Orff's favourite), and the majority of these are in simple time. There are some complexities of rhythm and time signature but the way the time signature is notated makes it very easy to count them. you should be fine! If there are any hard sections (e.g. semiquaver runs up or down scales, just play the 1st and 3rd of each set of 4 semiquavers, or if it's really fast, just the first. The point of days like these is that they are supposed to be fun so just enjoy it and play as much as you can! --Alex16z 10:26, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
