Who does the music for Glee (TV series)?[edit]

It's actually a two-part question. There are instrumentalists visible on screen as the cast members perform. Actually, there would need to be an explanation of who these people are in the show, not in real life. Are they other students? Faculty?

And then there are the singers who perform a capella background music for the show.

One would think this information would be somewhere in the article. But I don't see it. And I'm not sure of the appropriate place to add it.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:33, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's going to be a rather long list, as they may use different musicians and singers each week. Musicals routinely have background music come "from nowhere" when the numbers start. Think of it like background music in a regular movie or TV show. If they show them in Glee, they still may not explain what they are doing there. StuRat (talk) 22:26, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The idea behind the instrumentalists is that they're just other students who happen to play instruments and are happy to do so for the club, except for the bloke on the piano who is apparently Brad Ellis and who apparently just plays the piano for any one who ever asks at any time or place 90.209.11.149 (talk) 22:44, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll look around some more, but I was hoping someone knew this.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:06, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I found something this time, but its source is given as Wikipedia. The trouble is the information is not found in the article and I have no idea how old that version is or why the information is no longer in the article.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:15, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In one episode last season, the glee club had split into two competing groups and the original club didn't have enough students to put together a club with the minimum-required 12 students, so they asked a couple of the backup musicians to perform with the glee club. Thus it must be assumed that they are students, though their names were never revealed, and they stopped being members of the glee club once the two groups merged back together again. 69.62.243.48 (talk) 18:20, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is some information on the William McKinley Jazz Ensemble in Characters of Glee#McKinley High students. You can read some interviews with a couple of the players via this blog. --LarryMac | Talk 18:33, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did find something, though I don't know whether it will be considered acceptable to Wikipedia as a reliable source. Certainly it will be difficult to get this into what is already a good article. This appears to answer my question about the a capella music.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:36, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Also, it appears Jimmy Levine, who works with Tim Davis, has a Wikipedia article, but it's about as much of a stub as a person can have and not get deleted.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:40, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
