Eurovision singing[edit]

I constantly get an impression, that although lip synching with pre-recorded singing is banned at Eurovision, the singing of most performers differs from normal live performances elsewhere by being more acoustically pure, without wheezes, breathing pauses and pitch irregularities. Why is that? Do they use some sort of voice-refining microphones or what? --93.174.25.12 (talk) 15:20, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

All vocals are live and from the stage, but many acts employ backing singers who may or may not be in view. Just one example of many: Sweden has five backing singers for the chorus, standing on the absolute edge of the stage dressed in black with a black background behind the set.
Two dancers to open, two to spin the throne around, Elena herself… and then ‘The Mystery Singer’ tucked away stage left. There’s not a lot of backing vocals in this song, yet she seems to be singing rather a lot.. The Quixotic Potato (talk) 21:15, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It may be to do with the backing instrumentation. The singing must be live but the instrumentation must be recorded. I'd guess this makes it much easier for the sound technicians to ensure the balance is right (so often it isn't at concerts!), which in turn helps purity of vocals over the sound system. But as I've said, this is a guess, informed by knowledge of the rules. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 07:20, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there no discography of Klaus Wunderlich to be found on Wikipedia? Not on the english, german or the dutch Wikipedia... James Last, who produced over 200+ records, on the other hand, does have one... OXYGENE 7-13 (TALKPAGE) 18:55, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Swedish Wikipedia's article on sv:Klaus Wunderlich lists a selected discography (though without years of release). One reason why there is no discography on en, de, or nl.wp is rather banal: Because no one has taken the time and energy to write and include it yet. ---Sluzzelin talk 19:27, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
My question was actually: Would somebody be so kind to take the effort? I'm restricted by a white-list so it's almost impossible for me to verify any information, wich makes it hard for me to add anything at all. OXYGENE 7-13 (TALKPAGE) 11:23, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Someone from the dutch Wikipedia has already granted my wish. Consider it done. OXYGENE 7-13 (TALKPAGE) 18:28, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
