July 25[edit]

visual art and culture connections[edit]

I saw this video [1] on YouTube. It features Taiwanese pop singer Amuyi singing in a mixture of her language and English. From the title, it seems like she's performing in tribute to Fearless Girl. The English lyrics seemed to represent the statue's supporters pleading for the sculpture to be a permanent fixture in New York City. But the article about the statue mentioned duplicates were temporarily placed at Federation Square in Melbourne, Australia, and in Paternoster Square in London, United Kingdom. As I listened to the English lyrics, the song also made me think about many, many schoolgirls in both cities doing the same thing. (Sophie, Countess of Wessex, also had an opportunity to admire the statue replica in the latter.[2]) By any chance, was Amuyi inspired by the statue? And what could anyone tell me about Amuyi?2604:2000:1281:4B3:806F:57D6:B8B1:5437 (talk) 11:12, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
