German film from High School[edit]

When I was in high school we saw a German film from the 1980s that was set around the time of the Austro-Prussian War. The two main characters were a German lieutenant colonel and a German first sergeant who were friends of sort. I remember one scene where they are going off to battle and had just shared a drink or meal as friends then the sergeant salutes the colonel. Have tried to find this film for YEARS. Hopefully someone can help you out properly, but in the meantime we do have a category for German-language films from the 1980s (and other decades). It's kind of a long shot, but you could do a quick scan to see if a title happens to look familiar. The 1980s are here and the general German films cats can be found here (and note links at the top).
