March 7[edit]

Black/aborigine couple[edit]

Has there ever been a black/Australian Aborigines couple? déhanchements (talk) 22:34, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think we need a little clarification here. What do you mean by "black"? Please be aware that in Australia, the word "black" often means an Australian Aboriginal person. That would make the question rather odd. I'm wondering if you mean something else, perhaps a person of black African ancestry who lives in the USA. So, what do you mean? HiLo48 (talk) 23:01, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we already know there were thousands of what used to be called Kanakas brought in to Australia (many forcibly) from certain Pacific islands to work on the sugar plantations of Queensland and northern New South Wales. They were Melanesian and therefore had black skin. Many of them formed associations with indigenous and other Australians. Such as the parents of Faith Bandler. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 23:20, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sub-Saharan African. déhanchements (talk) 23:32, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I know of at least one such partnership. There is no logical reason why there wouldn't be more. HiLo48 (talk) 02:16, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Can you give any names? déhanchements (talk) 03:46, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No. Not appropriate. Nor useful. It just happens to be some people I know. Sorry. HiLo48 (talk) 03:56, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
How stupid of me, sorry I had no idea you were referring to people you actually knew, and I didn't know you were Australian either. So sorry. déhanchements (talk) 06:24, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
