Duval County ballot (FLA) in 2000 Election[edit]

Hi, assuming that the ballot design is faithful to the original one, if you see at the bottom, there is also the hole to be drilled by the "write-in" candidate, if you wish to vote. But I wonder what sense it makes; the write-in candidate has no holes, the name of the candidate that the voter wants to vote for, is it not written directly on the top of the card, and therefore without holes? A write-in option on a ballots often requires two things:

A way to indicate that a write-in vote is being cast.
A place for the write-in candidate to be written-in.

Then, only those ballots where a write-in vote is indicated were set aside for hand processing to record the write-in vote. (Remember that the processing of these punch ballots was intended to be automated.) Those with a write-in vote but without a write-in indication would be machine processed and treated as an undervote. The ballot you linked shows the former. For these punch ballots, the latter is presumably on the ballot card itself, but it is possible that a separate form need be requested. This would have been explained in the Voting Instructions, but I don't know where to find that for the 2000 Duval County election.

Interestingly, Palm Beach County's ballot from that same election does not include a write-in punch, but says, "WRITE-IN CANDIDATE To vote for a write-in candidate, follow the directions on the long stub of your ballot card." It is possible some precincts required that the voter drop cards with write-in votes in a special bin designated for hand processing. While images of the butterfly pages from this election abound, I don't know where to find a detail image of a ballot card or of the voting instructions. Question about New Wikipedia pages[edit]

Hello,

I would like Wikipedia pages made for the Rick Wilcox Magic Theater and Rick Wilcox himself. I see that it is difficult to create a page myself on Wikipedia and was just wondering what my best course of action would be for getting a page up and running as soon as possible. How do a request for an article to be created and otherwise how do I create them myself? I have been researching for nearly two hours to try to just submit a page request but to no avail. Ian's article covers this topic very well. Just to add that the most important thing is that the subject of the article should be notable, i.e. should already have received coverage in reliable sources such as newspapers, books & magazines. A quick google search suggests that your proposed subjects will almost certainly fail that test. --Viennese Waltz 08:24, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If I may add, that coverage should also be "significant", meaning that it addresses the topic directly and in sufficient detail to serve as the source of the content of the article. Merely establishing that the topic exists, as when it is listed as one possible fun thing to go and see in Wisconsin Dells, is not good enough. --Lambiam 08:45, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
