Brimingham Hall, Derbyshire[edit]

I occasionally correct mis-spellings of "Birmingham", I have been leaving "Brimingham Hall" - as I believed it was correct (I assume I must have done some research when I first did the task). I noticed today that there were no occurrences of "Brimingham Hall" on the wiki. At least one has been changed. Can anyone confirm or deny that "Brimingham Hall" in Derbyshire exists or existed? I found "R. G. Coke, of Brimingham Hall, Derbyshire." via google books, but there is no preview, and this too could be a typo. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 18:06, 28 May 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Google only finds the phrase in some old versions of our article, Harry MacDonald (cricketer); "MacDonald married Lilian Margaret Coke of Birmingham Hall, Derbyshire in 1887 and settled at Bathford, near Bath" (it was previously "Brimingham Hall" but was amended in July 2019).

It is referenced to the Charterhouse Register, 1872-1910 on a genealogy website which I can't access, but I managed to track it down here (p. 109) which does indeed say "Brimingham". However, this may well by a typo since Google is unable to show me any other reference to "Brimingham Hall". Alansplodge (talk) 18:40, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect it is a typo for "Brimington Hall"; see D'Ewes Coke, which places the Coke family in Brimington. His father-in-law, George Heywood of Brimington, is described here as being "of Birmingham Hall", but here as "of Brimington Hall". Coke's wife Hannah must have inherited the property. --Lambiam 20:00, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It was mostly demolished in the 1920s.
