Don't like[edit]

I don't like the way the buttons for the sound clips look and the voice is too nerdy. futurebird (talk) 16:01, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Same. Too much at the top. Crashed my browser (Firefox 3.0) also. Rehevkor 17:15, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. The buttons are not friendly to new visitors. Gary King (talk) 20:47, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The buttons really do not belong there, IMO. Everything else looks great though, I really like it. Good job!  ARTYOM  21:23, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not to mention not everyone has an Ogg-compatible media player. — FatalError 21:23, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The sound is a nice concept, I'll give you that, but I have to say I agree with the others, it isn't very "noob-friendly" like this. Thumbs up for the idea though. :) -[[Ryan]] (me) (talk) 01:16, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, too much stuff at the top of the page. I'd suggest making it smaller, and getting rid of the sound clips. Anaxial (talk) 21:28, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do Like Headings[edit]

The heading images do add a bit of sophistication I like them Slysplace talk 18:58, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the images look great, although there's a bit too much free space in the header, and as was said before the buttons doesn't exactly look great. — FatalError 21:24, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not a supporter of the whole contest concept. If user X has 5 Great ideas and User y only had 4 Why does X get priority? A Wiki is a collaboration. I truly believe that the best of all users willing to at least attempt to produce a new format be given credit and the best of all attempts be incorporated while retaining minimalism as well as a fresh contemporary design. Simply said I like these headings the best. Slysplace talk 22:49, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
EDIT CONFLICT Further in the design of the headings I think Ryan's look almost as good (at least second place) In fact I would be bold enough to state that the Left side of Red Thunders and the Right side of Ryans might even be combined to make a great heading image. The main page has always lacked that certain 'Flash of color that would set it apart from dull drum minimalism. Slysplace talk 23:00, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think a design should be a cohesive thing. Otherwise we get a franken-page. If there are good elements to this design perhaps someone else will pick them up and use them! futurebird (talk) 22:54, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bride of franken-page be damned! Cohesive is good! I just personally feel the main page no matter how it's used says a lot about a site. Slysplace talk 23:03, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Headings[edit]

The gradient headings are well done, nice way to fold in an icon. Maybe some of the headers weren't there in versions other than the one I saw (seems like a lot of space above the fold used for space?). —SusanLesch (talk) 06:18, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
