conflict with WP:MOS and MOS:MATH[edit]

Both WP:MOS and MOS:MATH advocate the use of the Unicode minus sign (i.e. &minus) in preference to the hyphen, while this essay indicates that WP:MOS advocates use of the hyphen. This is at least very confusing to the novice editor who happens across this page.

Is it a settled question as to which one is really preferred? Fabrickator (talk) 04:55, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. WP:MOSNUM#Proposal: Stop recommending the Unicode minus symbol (will later be archived as Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers/Archive 152#Proposal: Stop recommending the Unicode minus symbol (or maybe n Archive 153; depends on the archiver bot).  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  07:07, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The archive discussion is actually at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers/Archive 151 § Proposal: Stop recommending the Unicode minus symbol. – wbm1058 (talk) 12:39, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
