So none due to inactivity? Could it be time to run queries on bot activity then? Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 16:00, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, it's been a while. Maybe I'll work on that this weekend. — xaosflux Talk 17:04, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Headbomb: see Wikipedia:Bots/Noticeboard#Inactive_bots_-_May_2019 - it will be a week before they can be processed. — xaosflux Talk 03:34, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Headbomb: did a bunch of sweeping and shining. I don't think we've codified it in the policy but the whole citation bot thing has made it pretty clear that the community expects bots that can be "triggered" by non-operators to both authenticate, authorize (even if it is just 'is not blocked') and identify the triggering user. This should probably get codified in to the BOTPOL - but it is fairly important. Thoughts? — xaosflux Talk 13:09, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Could be added yes. I'm not sure identifying the triggerer is required of every possible bots tasks, eg if it's always editing the same pages, but in general it's a good idea to do so. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 13:13, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Headbomb: I started Wikipedia_talk:Bot_policy#Bots_triggered_by_multiple_users just now - perhaps just link in to it. It should be advertised a bit more, but getting it in BOTNEWS may get the most useful initial contributions. — xaosflux Talk 13:21, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
