Hi everyone, I'm having trouble with these steps:

"Enroll in the course on Wikipedia as follows: •Go to the course page. •Click on the "Enroll" tab at the top of the page. •Enter the Enrollment Token provided in your Syllabus and follow any other instructions. •Make sure that your User Name appears in the list of students at the bottom of the course page. If it does not, check the top of the page to make sure that there is no statement indicating that you are looking at a cached copy of the page. If you are, click the link to update."

I have been looking around for the "course page" for quite sometime. Can anyone help me navigate to where exactly this is?

Thanks,

Hi! It's nice to meet you. I think you may be on the course page for the wrong section. If you're in section 82, your course page is here. If you're in section 81, your course page is here. I hope this helps - if you have any more trouble let us know. Best of luck, and welcome! Keilana|Parlez ici 08:13, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Keilana. I appreciated your prompt response! Upon looking through everything I realized I never responded back (sorry)... If you don't mind me asking, how did you find upon your position with Wikipedia? I have to admit- this setup is pretty intimidating, so I can't wait to get the hang of it!
Thanks again, Jmudukes88 (talk) 01:48, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about it, I'm glad you figured it out! I wandered upon Wikipedia when I was in middle school and very, very socially awkward; it was a great outlet for me to do something productive in an environment I was comfortable in and I got totally hooked. So here I am! I think you'll pick it up pretty quickly, you're already doing well and once you've got the basics down the rest comes easy. :) Keilana|Parlez ici 06:54, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, I see how it could get addicting. For me, it'd be the fact that whatever subject I contribute to would most likely be one of the first links on a Google search (for that subject).. Thank you for the complement! Jmudukes88 (talk) 00:21, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Math on Wikipedia[edit]

Hi Keilana and Klortho, do you have any recommendations on how to format mathematical equations on Wiki? If not, even another ambassador I can get into contact with? I'm looking to setup our "How to Select a Vector" section of genomic library with the same design shown in Michaelis-Menten kinetics so it matches the rest of Wiki. Thanks in advanced. Hi, Jmudukes88, first, let me suggest that you leave these kinds of questions on one or the other of our talk pages. I've been swamped lately, and haven't been keeping a keen eye out on all the pages I'm watching, so it's just lucky that I noticed this question. Regarding math, do you know LaTeX? The equations in the page that you referred to are formatted in LaTeX. Just click the "edit" button there, and you'll see the underlying format. It looks like this:
<math> v = \frac{d [P]}{d t} = \frac{ V_\max {[S]}}{K_m + [S]}. </math>,
which gets rendered like this:
LaTeX is really very easy to learn, and this help page gives an introduction. It might be worth your time to learn enough to do what you want to do -- it is still the format of choice by authors of scientific papers in lots of disciplines, like physics, for example. If you don't want to learn it, you can probably find a free piece of software that will let you edit equations in a wysiwyg environment, and provide LaTeX output -- I'm not sure, though, you should Google it.
Let me know if you have more questions (leave a note on my talk page). Klortho (talk) 03:44, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome, thanks for the specific example and taking the time to answer this! I actually looked through some of that but felt overwhelmed just looking at all of the different keys. I think I'll take this example and modify it to fit exactly what's needed. I'll send any of my next questions/comments to your page. Jmudukes88 (talk) 23:50, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
