- Enigmaman, ScienceApologist and I came to this date after a brief Gmail chat the other day, so at least we know it's good for a few people. If there are no pressing objections, I'm going to schedule November 9 in soon.--Pharos (talk) 15:47, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- Works for me. Newyorkbrad (talk) 15:59, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- OK, something has just come up for me then. What do you folks think about Sunday November 16 instead?--Pharos (talk) 21:23, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- 16th works for me, 9th does not. Of course I appear to be in the minority in which case I'd say I'll see you guys next time. TravellingCari 21:35, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Mini-meetup Wednesday, Dec 3 with WMF Head of Communications Jay Walsh
[edit]See my post to the mailing list. Thanks, and see you there!--Pharos (talk) 21:21, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
- Heading over there right now. See you folks!--Pharos (talk) 21:51, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Mini-report on the mini-meetup:
- Attendees—
- We talked about the chapterhood progress and the recent submission of our bylaws, as well as the prospects for subnational chapters generally. Jay said the folks in San Francisco were very happy at Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Manhattan and Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, and that a couple of them would probably join us at a future meeting. After dinner, a couple of us walked over to attend the Illegal Downloading Panel at Columbia University that evening.--Pharos (talk) 17:39, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Date for January meeting
[edit]As we're getting ready for the mini-meetup Wednesday evening with Jay, I thought we should start thinking about setting a date for the January meeting. What do folks think about Sunday January 18?--Pharos (talk) 01:27, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Perfect for me. Sam Blab 01:29, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- I do not yet have any other plans for 18 January. --Mblumber (talk) 02:45, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's fine, but my birthday is the 20th, so who knows. — Becksguy (talk) 04:56, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- We can bring a cake! :D Sam Blab 12:31, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm. Sundays might be hard, as it's a work/school night. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 22:06, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah but Saturdays are worse, for some of us at least. --Mblumber (talk) 04:38, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Exactly! Julian, the dinner part is optional. At the last meetup, I bailed early for the same reason. :) Sam Blab 12:21, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps we could meet for lunch beforehand, instead of or in addition to dinner afterwards, for those who can't stay into the evening. (FYI, most meet-ups take place at a restaurant or similar and don't include the presentations section at all, so that's an added attraction for us). Newyorkbrad (talk) 12:50, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know about this. We've had "pre-meeting" activities in the past, and they really didn't work out too well (low attendance). Anyway, the dinner is a pretty early one, and should be OK generally, unless you're coming from very far away.--Pharos (talk) 01:12, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
