Initial Discussion

[edit]

I'm going to put a list of red links here, until a format can be decided and this info can be copied into a project article main page.

At the minute, Bluemoose's utility doesn't work for me (I have left him a message asking for help), so I'm going to do it manually from the first article on this main page, working my way down.

--If you're gonna do it manually, delink the rubbish or don't list it here. For example, will there ever be a useful Wikipedia article on drum fills? I doubt it! --kingboyk 06:41, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just gonna list them tbh - scope can be decided later. Personally, I'd prefer there were no red links in any of the articles, but that's just me! --Mal 06:43, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nah mate there's some that just won't get a Wikipedia article. If yer gonna list them all, could you add a note on context? I claim to know a fair bit about the Beatles but alas some of these names elude me or ring a bell and no more. --kingboyk 06:46, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well my original thinking on the matter was that some people who are involved in the project, or happen across it, might have an interest in some of the red links mentioned here and, as a result, might even decide to write an article on them. Does that make sense? I know a lot about the Beatles myself, but I can't say for sure that I'd be able to decide everything that is in scope and what isn't (though reading the context of the articles would probably solve that problem). I'll not add any more until we decide how best to proceed... --Mal 06:53, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I only meant delink the stuff that we can't have according to the rules. We don't have articles on deictionary definitions nor on non notable people. As for the rest, please carry on! Scope we can decide later. I was just saying that fills, well, are we gonna have an article on that that isn't a dictionary definition? --kingboyk 06:55, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK I see. What I'll do then, is put a note in to delink anything that I think should be. I'll be faster at completing the list if I don't go in, edit, delink, continue.. if you get me. You think I should continue to list every red link though, yeah..? --Mal 06:58, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Up to you. There's some useful omissions come up so far, for sure. I'll be not far behind delinking the nn stuff don't u worry :) --kingboyk 07:02, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Plan

[edit]

I plan to archive a lot of the redlinks that we're not going to bother with, or have been sorted out etc, after I've finished the singles, songs and cats. I'll put the whole thing in an archive off this page, stick a link in here, and removed non-essential information from the master list. --Mal 09:13, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If that includes those I already delinked, I'm afraid you'll have to trawl the edit history not only of this page but also of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject The Beatles/Article Classification, as I just zapped them. Didn't think it worth recording as a former redlink, well, who cares? :) --kingboyk 09:22, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
