In August 2014 Christopher Mallinson, the former head of performing arts at the specialist arts college, was banned from working with children for at least two years after he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a year 10 female student. He gave her a lift in his car on her own, kissed her on the forehead, hugged her and sat with her with his legs over hers. Mr Mallinson 57 was subsequently sacked from the William Allitt School and admitted the accusations but denied he had done anything wrong. [5]

Also earlier in the year ,in June 2014,the school had faced controversy as claims came forward about a teacher sellotaping Year 7 student Elise Smiths mouth closed after she was being a "chatterbox" in lesson. The teacher apologized to the student and family and its believed he passed her the sellotape as a joke instead of a malicious action by the teacher However, the teacher was never suspended but has since left the school.[6] [7]
