Windham Region Transit District, or WRTD, is the primary bus operator for Windham County, with NECTD (Northeastern Connecticut Transit District) and SEAT supplementing other towns within its jurisdiction. They have 4 routes in total, connecting with a small handful of other operators, such as UConn Transportation Services in Mansfield, SEAT in Norwich,[1] and NECTD in Brooklyn, Connecticut. Because of the small collection of routes, they have approximately 10 fixed route buses, with some Paratransit vehicles. Beginning August 14, 2017, WRTD will connect to CTtransit on the UConn campus and in Mansfield Center with the 913 Express route to Manchester, Connecticut.[2] Prior to this, the only connection to Hartford was via Peter Pan, or a UConn operated shuttle to UConn Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut.[3]
Local routes
WRTD will employ the use of a three-digit numbering system in response to a project being conducted by the CTDOT to renumber all state-operated routes to a single numbering scheme. The routes will start at 671 and end at 679(?).
