Y Pant School (Template:Lang-cy) is an English medium 11–18 mixed comprehensive school in the village of Pontyclun near Llantrisant, maintained by the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, serving the areas of Pontyclun, Talbot Green, Llantrisant and Llanharry, in Wales.[2]
Since the original school was built, two main buildings have been added: the sports hall and the "new block", built in 2006.[clarification needed] The school was nominated as best state school in Wales in 2003 by a leading newspaper.[which?][citation needed] The school has also produced above average grade results.[citation needed]
In October 2011 Y Pant School was inspected under the new Estyn framework and was judged to be an 'Excellent' school in terms of its current performance, prospects for improvement, standards, pupil outcomes, teaching and leadership.[3]
Since 2006, the school has seen a number of new buildings added: the new changing rooms and several new Portakabin classrooms. In 2016, the £24 million new school building was completed.
