Zafaranlu, is one of the Kurdish tribes from Kurmanj stock. They live in the State of Western Azarbaijan, Iran, Shahindej region, Salim Khan hills. They are the fifth great tribe in their region after Jalali, Milan, Haraki & Mamesh tribes.

Zafaranlu used to be known as Chamishgazak during their settlement in the united Kurdistan.

Etymology

Zafaranlu = Zafaran (Saffron) + lu (Turkish suffix, which means "belong to the land of") = Belong to the land of Zafarn, it could be Deyr ul-Zafaran.
