Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:54, 6 February 2017 (UTC)- Accounts must be linked to a single person, joint accounts are not allowed - Wikipedia:Username_policy#Usernames_implying_shared_use. Please request unlock as shown above for a single user name. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:57, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Ronhjones, this is discussed c:User talk:Rana & Sugandhi, c:Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Images by rana & sugandhi and c:Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/Archive_62#Possibly_inappropriate_block and seems settled per the otrs:2017020610003549 handled by MichaelMaggs. See the user page update too. Jee 02:57, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Jkadavoor: Commons is not the same as en-Wikipedia - this type of username is explicitly not allowed under our policy - the policy gives a clear example of Personal usernames that imply shared access, such as "Jack and Jill", are not permitted. I cannot see any way of allowing this name here without a change of policy. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:45, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Ronhjones. I understood the difficulties here. Hope it will not be an issue as her edits (file uploads) are in Commons. I hope she can use an alternate account (eg User:Sugandhi) if she want to edit here. Jee 02:31, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Jkadavoor: There only issue is that this name cannot be used on en-wiki. If they want to edit here - they have a choice of creating one or two new users (which will create new users on commons as well - as all accounts are global now), or renaming the account - that will rename the commons account as well. Requested username:
Administrators should consider discussing any unblock with the blocking administrator (see the blocking policy).
If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, please replace this template with the following:
{{unblock-un on hold | 1=blocking administrator | 2=aranyaparva | 4=~~~~}}
If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following:
{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=aranyaparva | accept=Allowing username change to requested username. Please select an option from [[Wikipedia:Changing username]] and file a request as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. ~~~~}}
If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following, replacing {{subst:Decline reason here}}
with any specific rationale. If you do not edit the text after "decline=", a default reason why the request was declined will be inserted.
{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=aranyaparva | decline={{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}
