Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, IHateNatou, does not meet our username policy.
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:18, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Is hating a type of food (Natou - is a Japanese food that is commonly disliked by non-Japanese) a crime? I don’t think anyone will get offended by it? Please enlighten me how this name is offensive.

Decline reason:

The name "Natou" does appear to be a common personal name, and I can't find any Japanese food called "Natou" (though I'd be interested to know what it is). Did you, perhaps, mean "Natto" (the common English transliteration), which is indeed commonly disliked by non-Japanese (though I find it delicious myself)? I think "IHateNatto" would be fine as a username. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:30, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

When searching online, "Natou" came back to me as a first name used by many people. This is why I applied a soft-block to this account and because of the username. I'll let another administrator evaluate your request and make a decision. To the reviewing administrator: you don't need my permission or my blessings first in order to unblock this account - if it's the right thing to do, just do it. :-) All I request is that you leave me a message and let me know what you ended up deciding, and what your thoughts/reasons were behind the decision - just so I know about it. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 11:15, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like a cross-cultural unintended consequence. If it were, I hate John or Yuri, it would be much clearer. Don't feel strongly enough to decline or accept. I see user's point. This is a problem with a multi cultural project-- someone could take unintended offence. May need to send it to Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 11:25, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I would endorse going to RFCN. I'm very reluctant to change this name to to a name that expresses hatred of anything. "Natto" sounds to me like it could be a nickname of a person, too. 331dot (talk) 11:44, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with 331dot. The "I hate" part of the username is what drew my attention to it in the first place when I saw it in the logs, and my experience has shown me that usernames like this tend to be the center of issues or trouble (of course, not forgetting to take the assumption of good faith into account). Do what you will, but I really think that someone who has the legitimate desire to be a part of this community and to expand and improve this project would understand and have no problem with choosing a completely different username. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 11:50, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This user is asking to be unblocked to request a change in username.

Requested username:

Administrators should consider discussing any unblock with the blocking administrator (see the blocking policy).

Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, please replace this template with the following:

{{unblock-un on hold | 1=blocking administrator | 2=IHateNatto | 4=~~~~}}

If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following:

{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=IHateNatto | accept=Allowing username change to requested username. Please select an option from [[Wikipedia:Changing username]] and file a request as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following, replacing {{subst:Decline reason here}} with any specific rationale. If you do not edit the text after "decline=", a default reason why the request was declined will be inserted.

{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=IHateNatto | decline={{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}
  • I'm not closing this, and I'm not certain it violates policy(that may be discussed as noted above), but I think it would save you some grief if you would agree to change your name to something that does not express hatred of anything. 331dot (talk) 11:47, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would, too. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 11:55, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
